Welcome to La Salle Academy Lithgow

A Catholic School

  News and Events Upcoming Events

La Salle Academy is founded on the gospel values of Christ so that the religious dimension permeates school life, both in the formal aspects of religious education lessons and liturgies as well as informally in the daily living and witness of Christian values.

All students and parents are expected, as an essential condition of enrolment, to be supportive of the Catholic ethos and to participate fully in all religious activities and programs run by the school.

Located in the Parish of St. Patrick’s, Lithgow, La Salle Academy adopted the motto of “Christus Vincit” - In Christ we Conquer. La Salle students are urged to model their lives on Christ and on Gospel values to achieve spiritual fulfilment and are encouraged to be young men and women for others. Social justice activities by the student body give expression to this ideal.

The library is a focal point for teaching and learning that has integrated the use of hardcopy books and the electronic research facilities.

Senior students make a bee-line for the library when its study time. They appreciate the facilities on offer for quiet study or research.

What’s happening in the library in Term 2

Students of Year 7 have all commenced their Information Literacy Skills program which aims at improving their ability to be more independent library users, thus becoming more efficient and independent researchers. During each weekly visit, students engage in activities ranging from using indexes and glossaries to mastering the library catalogue to writing bibliographies.

With half-yearly exams being conducted this term, the Year 11 students are using their Study Periods effectively as they use the library resources to assist in their preparation, making excellent use of the many and varied revision guides and study notes available.
